This tour starts from Heraklion and combines a relaxed scenic drive along the small and graphic villages of Lassithi.
Our first stop introduces us to the cave of Zeus. Zeus Cave, known as the Ideon Andron, is nestled into the side of Mt Idi, looking over the Nida Plateau. This remarkable cave is 55 km from Heraklion in the Psiloritis mountain range in Crete, Greece. The cave has a main chamber 40 by 50 metres.
Mythology tells us that Ζeus was born or raised in this cave, by the Goddess Rhea, to hide him from his father Kronos , who had eaten all his children.
We will then, stroll along the mountains of Lassithi Plateau to Lasinthos Eco Park. Lassinthos ECO park, a shelter of nature and Cretan. Lasinthos ECO park offers numerous interactive activities and attractions. The main goal of the park is to revive techniques of Cretan traditional art knowledge. Guests will have the chance to taste olive oil, Cretan wine and “raki” – the traditional spirit of Crete. The whole visit can combine culture and taste, fun, action and pleasure.
Following that, with a 40 min. visit at the monastery of Kera Kardiotissa which is located on the mountain range of Dikti, following the uphill road to the Lassithi Plateau. It is 50 km from Heraklion and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, like most Cretan monasteries.
Our last stop of our day, the picturesque village of Krasi. Well known for its freshwater springs and the oldest and largest tree on Crete. Enjoy to soak in the beauty of the Cretan landscape, stroll through the village's traditional streets, and marvel at the historic landmarks. Have luchn or/and coffee and head back to the hotel.
